Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is dental scrap?

A: Dental scrap typically consists of anything that a dentist may use on a patient that contains precious metals, such as a dental crown. When a patient needs it removed for a variety of reasons, the piece (generally useless at that point), becomes what we call “dental scrap”. Patients will often request to keep their dental scrap, but most of the time they don’t. While in the past a dentist might have thrown it away, with the recent surge in precious metals values, refining companies like us have shown an interest in purchasing the dental scrap from dental offices or patients direct.

Q: Can teeth be attached to the scrap?

A: Yes. Any non-metal material is melted during the refining process.

Q: What precious metals will I be paid for?

A: While most companies will only pay you for any gold that is contained within your dental scrap, we pay you for all traces of gold, white gold, platinum, silver, and palladium that your dental scrap contains.

Q: What if I don’t know what precious metals my dental scrap consists of?

A: Don’t worry, just send it in! We melt every batch and will pay you for every particle of gold, white gold, platinum, silver, and palladium that your dental scrap contains.

Q: How can I get an estimate of my scrap's value? I’ve never sold before.

A: Please view our homepage to see examples of dental scrap and the prices we’ve paid out.

Q: Is there a minimum amount required when mailing dental scrap?

A: No, however we encourage you to send as much as you can in the same mailing.

Q: How long does it take before I will receive payment?

A: You can expect to have your check in hand approximately 2-3 weeks from the date that you request your scrap pack. Please call us for expedited options.

Q: Do non-gold or "white" crown and bridge have any value? Should I bother saving this material?

A: Yes, you should! Often a silver looking piece may actually be valuable white-gold. Even if it isn’t white gold, we will pay you for all dental scrap that contains platinum, silver, palladium, or gold.

Q: Does it have to be dental scrap?

A: Although we specialize in dental scrap, we can refine and provide you with high payouts for any material that may contain gold, platinum, or palladium, such as jewelry. Call us if you’d like more information about having us refine non-dental scrap.

Q: What is a scrap pack?

A: So that you can enjoy 100% free shipping, we send you a scrap pack. Inside your scrap pack will be another envelope in which you can place your dental scrap. Simply drop it off at any USPS mailbox and we’ll receive your dental scrap, 100% free shipping to you (we pay the shipping both ways). What are you waiting for?
